Baby Benjamin

While I was pregnant with Ben we decided another C-Section would be best and safest. I was really hoping for a V-BAC, but in the end it just didn't really work out. I am thankful that we had the C-Section. It was so nice to be able to enjoy a labor experience and truly be able to be a part of it all.

We went into the hospital early morning and went to triage to get all prepped. The scariest part was having to walk to my C-Section room. I mean who voluntarily likes the idea of being cut open, I certainly do not. I just remember thinking "great I have to walk to my doom"- doom meaning the surgery part. I was thrilled to be meeting my baby, there was never a doubt about that.

Took him a while to get through all my scar tissue, and he had to go through a new spot. But when they got to Ben he was crying before he was out of my belly. The dr. pulled him out and he immediately peed everywhere. We were all laughing our heads off, and me and Gage were crying tears of joy and relief. As you know with Harvey we had a much different experience. This was a very healing experience. My sweet Benjamin born on March 17. My Saint Patty's day baby.

Recovery

After the C-Section they put us all in recovery, Ben never left my side. Which was also crazy, because I didn't get to be with Harvey for 2 hours after, so I thought it would be the same.

The experience was so much more than I could imagine. While in recovery I got to breastfeed Ben, and guess what? He latched and ate amazingly. It seriously blew me away. I couldn't believe it. I finally was able to breastfeed the way I imagined.

Hospital Stay

After this C-Section I was able to move around better and sooner. I was able to take care of Ben and have energy. Other than missing Harvey more than I could imagine, it went really well. I will forever be thankful that Ben was my last experience.

Oh! How could I forget! Ben pooped so much the first 24 hours on this Earth that he went through an entire small pack of diapers the hospital has in the room. I had never seen anything like it before, and neither did the nurses when we asked for a second pack. Anytime Ben moved you would hear it, and we would all laugh.

I love that with both of my boys I had a unique experience. Labor is scary, and a crazy ride. I wouldn't want to change it for anything.

Still figuring it out, one muddy day at a time.
