Free time is not something I take lightly. It is hard to find a moment where I can focus on what I want to do. Even then a lot of my free time includes going grocery shopping, the occasional getting lunch with my mom and sister. I don't have much in the day to day that is just mine to sit and binge watch a TV show and crochet, or read a book.
Stolen Moments
I find little pockets throughout the day and try to make my time meaningful. Nap time being one, and I started working on my blog during that time. Nothing crazy, but I can get on here like a journal and share my thoughts for the day. It doesn't take long, but it lets me have something to do.
After Bedtime Is My Favorite
When the kids go to bed at night this is my favorite free time. I usually crochet, and work on any other hobby that I am dabbling in at that time. One of the biggest things I struggle with is making sure I use my mind in different ways, and not get stagnant in my day to day. Crochet has helped so much because it takes planning, researching, and learning a new skill. I am always looking for a new way to make something and really try and push myself to learn more about it.
Eventually I think it would be cool to sell some of the stuff I have made, and go to craft shows or markets. I am not fast enough, or have enough time in the day to build up stock yet. Once that day comes, maybe that will be something I can do.
The Progress Bar Always Resets
It is always really cool to get compliments on my work and you can really see the effort put into a project. Unlike the living room I have cleaned six times today, all while still seeing the trail of crumbs that was just spread out by my toddler 10 minutes after I vacuumed.
I am not saying that I don't get recognition for my house being clean or taking care of the kids, my husband does great at that. It is just hard to feel accomplished when the progress bar always resets — at least cleaning the house feels that way.
